Makoto Onishi

After working in restaurants in Osaka and Tokyo, he went to Italy to master Neapolitan pizza, training at a pizzeria on Ischia Island. After six months, he won the Best Individual Award at the "PIZZA FEST" in 2003, becoming the first foreigner to do so. Upon returning to Japan, he joined Salvatore Cuomo and became part of Wise Table Corporation in 2004. From 2006, he led the PIZZA SALVATORE CUOMO team to three consecutive victories. In 2012, he founded the "Japanese Neapolitan Pizza Artisans Association" and became its first president.

Makoto Onishi

After working in restaurants in Osaka and Tokyo, he traveled to Italy to master the art of Neapolitan pizza. He began his training at a pizzeria on Ischia Island and, after about six months of apprenticeship, participated in the "PIZZA FEST" in September 2003. Competing alongside seasoned veterans from Naples, he won the Best Individual Award, becoming the first foreigner to do so. Upon returning to Japan at the end of 2003, he joined Salvatore Cuomo, sharing the same passion for Neapolitan pizza, and became part of Wise Table Corporation in 2004. From 2006, he led the PIZZA SALVATORE CUOMO team to victory for three consecutive years. In 2012, he established the "Japanese Neapolitan Pizza Artisans Association" and was appointed its first president.
